Imelda Marcos Sues to get her Diamonds Back!

Imelda Marcos, former first lady and wife of the late President Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines, filed a motion in court to prevent the auction of as much as $10 million worth of diamonds and jewelry.

Marcos said the jewelry is hers and told the government to "Please stop this. This is too much repression."

Christie's auction house was already sorting jewels to prepare bid for auction as early as November, but a complete and current value of goods remained unknown. The collection includes a Burmese ruby, diamonds and two diamond tiaras, and many pearl necklaces and jewelry. Sotheby's and Boham's are scheduled to review the collection in coming days.

In 1986 United States customs officials confiscated diamonds carried in diapers by the Marcoses after their flight arrived in Hawaii from Manila.

Marcos, 76, filed a petition on September 15 to stop the sale of the collection including that of a 37.5 carat diamond. She says in the document that the diamond was left at the couple's home when they fled to Hawaii and it was then stolen before it ended up with "a certain Demetriou Roumeliotes, who attempted to smuggle them out of the country."

Roumeliotes is a Greek national who was prevented from fleeing Manila with 60 pieces of jewelry.

Proceeds from the sale of Marcos' jewelry would fund a land reform program in the Philippines. The jewelry was twice before prevented from auction due to litigation.

Hey, Yo, Phillipine Government! I agree with Imelda. Give her back her diamonds and jewelry! If you guys want to make some real money, auction off her shoes!

Imelda Marcos belongs to the Wealthy Romualdez
Family. Those jewels are her family heirlooms.
Alot were reset and additional stones were added to modernize the style and match her
clothes as she traveled and met royalties,
ambassadors, head of states. How would you feel if your family jewels were stolen and sold off.
I rest my case. Those jewels have alot of
setimental values in her heart.
Please Give them back to the Rightful Owner.Madame Imelda Roumauldez Marcos.

Imelda belongs to a poor relations of the wealthy Paz Gueco Romualdez! They were very poor in Tacloban, their house was a small tiny house and she had only a nice face and can sing
that's all.She lived with her wealthy cousin in law in Manila, until he met marcos.

imelda used to go to the house of the Reyes family in Manila,to practise singing accompanied by the piano by Mr.Reyes, she used to eat there too(she was then the maid of her rich cousin in law,Paz Gueco(rich Gueco's but not imelda. She did not own any diamonds then!these are not heirlooms,THEY WERE SO POOR THEN.
She is a liar!

Interesting.
As a former serviceman stationed in the P.I., I can attest to the Marcos' as fair. So the First Lady had almost 3000 pairs of shoes; how many would any woman in her position as first lady have after 20 years? The same goes for the jewelry, much of which were gifts from heads of state. When the Marcos' were in charge, it was 25 pesos to the dollar, now it's 50/$. There wer maybe 30 clubs outside of Clark Air Base in 1982, now it's more like 300. Thank you People Power! Now, give Imelda her stuff back.

Those jewelries are not Imelda's. Tell Mrs. Bush or Mrs. Clinton to buy jewelries and shoes just like her, let us see if you can feel how we filipinos felt.

if I were the first lady for 20 years i'd have more than 3000 pairs,i would not even keep them, probably give them away,we should admire her for looking after them...regarding her diamonds? ...she's got taste, i love her...i'm sure a lot of women wish they were in her shoes!!!!!

Come on people, time to move on, lets give credit where credit is due, before the marcoses, the philippines was just a u.s. base, known for the death march and 2nd world war.
The Marcoses although negative publicity has attracted worldwide news, what does that do for the country? Tourism for one, I've just visited the country after I left in 1972 and the country has progressed a lot from that time.
I believe in the right of ownership, she owns the jewelry whether she acquired it as a gift from any other country, it was given to her, it's righfully hers to keep.
The government seems to believe that all the valuables were stolen, how can it be when it was either bought or given to her. This is an example of how Hitler took all the valuables of the jews at the time of the holocaust.
Let her be and concentrate on getting rid of the abu sayyap rebels instead.

imelda is a liar and the biggest thief in the whole wide world, she does not own those jewels they belong to the poor Pinoys, jewels must be sold!!over our dead body!1From Pinoys in europe. We suffered so much during the marcos plunder years, how dare you out there??

If you want want to steal millions or billions of money, you go to the philippines. They are very forgiving people.

Having a lot of shoes is not an issue, you guys just making it a big deal. I am not a First lady but i have some collection of shoes and purses and jewelries. Imelda is a classy lady and she has to have a lot of pairs of shoes as a representative of the Philippines. If i would be a First lady i'll probably have more shoes than Imelda.

Imelda Marcos is very wealthy. Her money was such a big deal when she was living at Malacanang.

Daphne Osena Paez said her father is the pilot of the Marcoses. I suppose he is the pilot who help them escape with their jewels on Hawaii? Anyway the Osenas are now living in Canada. I wonder why?

plaese give to the old lady her jewelry. it belongs to her not to the government...

i am personally convinced that those valuable and precious jewelries belongs to mam Imelda Romualdez Marcos, she was then a first lady of the Philippines for 20 years, and with that I believed that she had the capacity to acquire all of it.........so all I can contribute is to pray ,because miracle happens in many ways.....

She might be a thief during her 20 yrs. as first lady , but in fairness there were plenty projects also that was formulated during their time, and Phils. became famous because of the corruption done during Marcos regime.and in southern phils.a lot of muslims were salvage due to political reason and false accusation. i hope and pray those things will not happen again under GMA presidency.lets move on.

Guys, give her diamonds back!it's hers and not from the goverment. Filipinos are sick. They thought that all jewels or fortunes are from the funds of the Philippines, WAKE UP! lets veer away from the makabayang EKSENA! I would risk my life to imelda. I love her. She had done a lot of things to the Philippines. She putted the Philippines in the WORLD MAP! COMMON GUYS!

Despite being inherently sturdy, boots do need adequate maintenance in order to provide you with unfailing protection. Care is also needed to help your boots retain their beauty and appeal. Most boot stores carry gel and spray products designed to keep your boots strong and sturdy despite the constant exposure to natural elements of the weather.
