Chronodeco Watches
I just saw a really cool new concept in luxury timepieces, courtesy of Luxist.bligblog.
A small watch company called chronodeco, created by metallurgical engineer Craig Bergsma, features NOS (new old stock) movements. This means that all of the parts in the watch excluding the crystal and the strap have been in storage for at least 50 years and never used. Because the watches are composed of old stock there is always a limited edition of each version. The Positano, named for Bergsma’s recent trip to the Italian town, has a 38mm pink gold-filled case with deco designed lugs and a stainless steel snap back. There are just 20 watches available, 12 silver dials and eight black dials. Each one is numbered on the inside of the back and has a Certificate of Authenticity. The watches sell for $695 each. All of Bergsma’s previous editions have sold out quickly.

i love chronodeco. it's a great concept, recreating new old stock. has anyone heard of a rumored restart of this company, really a guy, who made surf watches in the sixties? info i got was that he was in the defense industry, and an L.A. area surfer who took steel swiss and military watches and baked the cases, for more water proofness i suppose. i don't know what happened to the original guy, but read in some surfers blog that his friends or family are going to restart his company. if anyone knows, i'd love to hear. i'm a surfer and would like to have one.
