How About Crocs Covered In Diamonds!
Well, I just stepped out of a meeting with the CEO of Excel Diamonds (who happens to be my Dad and a frequent contributor to these boards..) to discuss some of our new projects and initiatives.
Somehow, we got to talking about the highly publicized and cultish "foot fetish" craze, known as "Crocs"

We were talking about how this company managed to take a bland and rather non-descript pair of cheap plastic slippers and turn it into something of an icon in the world of footwear.
Indeed Crocs is one of the fastest growing companies in the world.
One thing lead to another and we started talking about effective marketing as it pertains to the diamond industry..
My Dad, Barry Gutwein is from the "old school" in the diamond industry. As a master diamond cutter with over 25 years experience in cutting diamonds (before launching his own diamond company and store), my Dad has a tremendous respect for diamonds as one of the most magical and beautiful of G-ds creations ("Crafted by G-d and perfected by Man").
He therefore has a particular disdain for the way diamonds today are sometimes incorporated into the cheapest and most mundane products.
It was within this context that he suddenly came up ith the idea of "blinged out Crocs"!!
Why not take the already popular and cultish Crocs and cover the top with diamonds integrated within the plastic, for all the Croc lovers who desire something a bit "extra"??
Heck, everything today can be "blinged out" with diamonds.
Indeed, many of the most ridiculous products on this planet are already available in "bling format" for people who have nothing better to do with their cash.
I though this was a great Idea!
If you folks agree, let me know.
Oh...and since we don't plan on running with this idea...in the event that any of you do decide to market "blinged out Crocs", don't forget to give us some kudos and love! Tell everyone you got the idea from Diamond Vues!! ;-) ;-)

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
