Luxury Watches Get Bigger. Piaget Gets Smaller!

With the clear trend at this years Basel show opting for big and substantive watches with thick dials, deep measurements and huge complications, one manufacturer has put the emphasis on going in opposite direction.

Piaget has decided to focus on the theme of ultra-thin mechanical movements. These are the movements they have become famous for and nobody does it better!

Think the 9P manual-winding calibre introduced in 1957, followed in 1960 by the self-winding 12P movement which, at just 2.3 mm thick, notched a place in luxury watch lore and history by placing Piaget in the Guinness Book of Records as the creator of “the world’s thinnest self-winding movement”.

The newer movements by Piaget, including the 430P, 450P and 438P movements, which measure a mere 2.1 mm thick, and the new line of 600P (tourbillon regulator) movements, are all contributing factors to Piaget's explosive growth in 2007.
