Factors responsible for this are the weak dollar, high oil prices, weak stock markets, and falling real estate values which place world economies into recession/stagflation modes.

Am actually not surprised.
Diamonds are one of the few "commodities" that hold their value pretty well.
I'll be so bold as to say they actually appreciate over time.
This is due to the low availability of natural D-Flawless diamonds in the world market and to my knowledge thus far, thats not about to change for the better.
If i were you, i'd but now, even on lay away!!!!
